Stripey Strawberry Shake

Print Recipe
Here's a quick, colorful way to get your kids (or your spouse) to enjoy their calcium. The rich strawberry syrup that flavors the milk isn't mixed in, but rather used to decorate the glass for an eye-catching treat.

Ingredients
1  lb. strawberries, hulled and chopped (about 3 cups)
2/3  cup granulated sugar
4  tsp. cornstarch
2  Tbsp. water
   Cold milk or chocolate-flavored milk
   Vanilla ice cream

Directions
1. For syrup, in blender container combine strawberries and sugar. Cover; blend until smooth. Strain through sieve to remove seeds; place in saucepan. Combine cornstarch and water; whisk into strawberry mixture. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Remove from pan; cool. Makes 2 cups syrup.*

2. To make Stripey Shakes, pour a teaspoon of syrup down sides of glass, using 2 tablespoons total syrup for each glass. Fill glass with cold milk; top with scoops of ice cream.
*Test Kitchen Tip: Store remaining syrup in airtight container in refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
