Classic Thanksgiving Stuffing

Ingredients 
1 med. onion, chopped finely
3 stalks celery, chopped finely
1 T. butter
1 16 oz. bag seasoned bread pieces or crumbs
1/4 t. dried parsley
1/4 t. dried sage
1/4 t. dried thyme
1 c. chicken stock (or turkey stock if you have it)

Optional Ingredients:
1/2 c. dried cranberries or 3/4 c. fresh cranberries
1 tart apple (like Granny Smith), diced
1/2 c. nuts (like walnuts or pecans)

Directions:
Saute onion and celery in butter until soft.
Add herbs and stir the mixture.
In a large bowl, toss onion mixture with the bread
and any of the optional ingredients.
Pour stock over the bread mixture to evenly coat.

Put stuffing in the turkey and follow cooking instructions for the turkey. Or, place stuffing in a buttered casserole dish and bake at 350.F for 30-40 minutes.
