Rita’s Tea Room
Originally a one-room schoolhouse, the Tea Room was purchased by singer/songwriter Rita MacNeil in the early 1980's. She lived there with her family for several years. As Rita's popularity grew, her supporters would come to the small village of Big Pond to have a cup of tea with Rita (her favourite beverage). Eventually, it became so popular that Rita decided to convert her house into the Tea Room. Today the Tea Room is a popular stop for Rita fans and, of course, for those seeking a meal and a good cup of Cape Breton tea!
Hours: Gift Shop/Display Room: June 1 - Oct 30
