Our hardware is modular, allowing RANS members to build a system that is a perfect fit for their specific business needs.

• For Table Service: The primary tool is the S1 Handheld. This all-in-one device allows servers to take orders and secure payments directly at the table, increasing service speed and table turnover. Restaurants can deploy as many handhelds as their team needs.
• For Bar Service: For the high-volume environment of a bar, we recommend the stationary Toast Flex terminal. It’s a durable, spill-resistant countertop device that can be equipped with an integrated, customer-facing payment screen (Toast Tap™) for fast and easy transactions.
• For the Kitchen: Orders can be routed to either a modern Toast Kitchen Display System (KDS) for a digital workflow or to traditional, reliable ethernet-based kitchen printers.

Because Toast provides the hardware, software, and payment processing,
you have one number to call for any issue. Toast offers expedited hardware replacement to get your restaurant back to full capacity as quickly as possible. If a piece of critical Toast hardware is determined to be defective by our support team,
we will ship a replacement unit for next-business-day delivery.

Toast’s system is designed with multiple layers of redundancy to ensure a restaurant can continue operating even if the primary internet connection fails. The reconfiguration for data connectivity is completely automatic, requiring no manual intervention from staff.

If the restaurant’s internet connection goes down, all Toast devices automatically switch into a powerful Offline Mode.

• Continued Operation: While offline, the POS terminals continue to communicate with each other and with kitchen printers/KDS screens over the local network.
• Secure Payment Capture: Most importantly, Toast terminals can still securely swipe, dip, or tap and store encrypted credit card information for payment.
• Automatic Synchronization: Once internet connectivity is restored, the system automatically syncs all stored orders and processes the queued payments with the cloud.
